Stained Glass

LEARN SOMETHING NEW…….and I did

I’ve always been fascinated with stained glass so jumped at the chance to attend  a class in September 2011 to learn this new skill. Totally fell in love with the medium, the way it changes with the light, the rich colours and textures. Combatted my primal fear of broken glass but still am reverant to it. Continuing to explore the techniques of foiling and leading and currently enjoying experimenting with kiln fired glass painting.

MERMAID PROJECT 2012 – large window panel for a bathroom, using a huge variety of different types of glass and tricky cuts – imagine making from scratch a giant jigsaw puzzle? This took many months to complete.

KILN FIRED PAINTING – experimental panels using a combination of coloured glass and painted designs permenantly fused onto the glass as in traditional Church windows. Not as easy as one would think, mainly because the special glass paint dries incredibly fast on the pallet, prolonging the process.
